We are delighted to have two excellent guest speakers at LISDIS 2016: Emma Coonan and Claire Sewell.
Emma’s presentation will shed light on the process of publishing a journal article, letting participants know what to expect when they submit a piece to a journal, and why it takes so long to hear anything back!
Emma is the Information Skills Librarian at UEA (University of East Anglia), Norwich. She holds an MSt and PhD in literary theory and an MSc in Information and Library Management, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Emma’s chief research interests are information literacy, learning development and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
In 2011 she was seconded to a fellowship at Wolfson College, Cambridge, to develop ‘A New Curriculum for Information Literacy’ in collaboration with Dr Jane Secker of LSE. Since then she has jointly edited two books and is currently writing a third. In June 2015 she became Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Information Literacy.
She spends an unfeasible amount of time on trains and drinks far too much espresso.
Claire Sewell is Research Skills Coordinator in the Office of Scholarly Communication in Cambridge where she oversees the professional development of library staff. Focusing on the rapidly developing area of scholarly communication Claire develops training initiatives in order to ensure that library staff are best placed to support the research community. As part of her role she also manages the Research Support Ambassador Programme which enhances staff training skills so that they can provide frontline support.
Claire received her MSc in Library and Information Studies from the University of Aberystwyth in 2013. As part of her studies she researched the impact of social media marketing at an academic library and developed a new model for measuring social media engagement. Claire has been an active member of CILIP for several years achieving Chartership in 2014, serving as Social Media Manager for the Cataloguing and Indexing Group and more recently as Candidate Support Officer for CILIP East. She also sits on the Editorial Board of the New Review of Academic Librarianship where she maintains the social media presence of the journal.
